Know-how

It is by working hand in hand with our long-time partner growers
that we have forged the style of our wines

The art of Grenache

The Bonpas style is above all the unadulterated expression of the region’s emblematic grape variety, red Grenache, which is the cornerstone to the final blends for the entire range of wines. It is combined with other historic, traditional Rhone Valley varietals such as Syrah, Mourvèdre, Carignan, and so on.

Our cuvées stand out for their fruitiness and concentration, pleasing mouthfeel, lovely richness, and smooth tannins.

A conversation with winecrafter Jean-Luc Durand

The viniculturist
“The link between vinification and viticulture, the winecrafter reconciles two inseparable aspects of the winemaking profession: the selection of vines from among our partner growers and the work performed in the winery and cellar.”

The Bonpas Signature

“Red Grenache grapes and rounded stones forge the Bonpas identity. Together, they lend the wines ideal tannic balance. The Bonpas style is linked to the age of the vines that are cultivated and selected by our partner growers. Grenache is a varietal that balances itself out over time. The older the vine, the better balanced the bunch load is. This is why we prefer to work with grapes grown on vines that are at least 25 years old to ensure our cuvées boast well-integrated tannins and a wealth of aromas and flavours. Our signature touch is the expression of the grape variety associated with carefully selected terroirs.”

The wines
“It is roundness and complex aromas and flavours that best define the Bonpas cuvées. It is a delicate balance that we work on on a daily basis as this is what constitutes the identity of our wines.”
