Dames de Bonpas
DAMES DE BONPAS
Each cuvée reveals a chapter in the history of this prestigious site or its region.
‘Dames de Bonpas’ pays tribute to the nuns of Prébayon Abbey, first women’s chaterhouse,
who in the Middle Ages cultivated vines on the God-blessed plain.
Grenache Noir, Syrah and Mourvèdre
Co-fermentation of the different grape varieties. Physical extractions using devatting and pumping over techniques at the beginning of fermentation give way to the traditional Rhône Valley method, which consists of submerging the pomace cap at the end of fermentation. This final extraction, conducted at 28°C, is comparable to an infusion. While respecting and preserving the aromas and flavours of jammy red fruit, it allows the wine to acquire smooth velvety tannins and guarantees good length on the palate.
Intense cherry red with deep purple highlights
Combination of small red fruits (strawberry, blackcurrant, raspberry) and a spicy sweetness.Supple, round attack, the finish is redolent of black fruit associated with light spices such as cinnamon and vanilla. The supple, melting tannins give this wine fullness and body in the mouth.Serve between 13-15°C/56-59°F. Perfect with grilled or stewed meat, grillet filet of beef with Cèpes or duck breast.
The Côtes-du-Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu appellation spreads out from the foothills of the Dentelles de Montmirail mountains, on a plain of over 1,170 ha (2,890 acres) and 4 villages in the Vaucluse. Plan de Dieu - The plain of God - the name dates back to the Middle Ages when it was mainly a dangerous forest frequented by bandits and wolves. Travelers would pray for divine protection before crossing it hence its name!
The vines grow on a bed of red clay packed to a depth of 10 meters with a mass of smooth-rolled pebbles.
A terroir ideal for Grenache-based red wines.
The terroir of Plan de Dieu was classified as Côtes du Rhône Villages in 2005. The wines produced are renowned for elegance, finesse and generous fruit, reflecting the Grenache Noir grape variety.
