COTES DU RHONE

50 years-Old Vines

Origins of the cuvée

DEEP ROOTS. TIMELESS CHARACTER.
Over the decades, Grenache vines develop deep root systems (up to 4-5 meters) capturing rare minerals and moisture, even in dry conditions, enhancing both tannin quality and aromatic complexity.

CRAFTED BY NATURE, REFINED BY TIME.
Naturally less productive, old vines are characterized by richly concentrated grapes with a higher skin-to-juice ratio, thanks to a slower sap flow. The result? Wine of depth, fullness, and remarkable ageing potential.

Grape varietals

Grenache with Carignan.

Vinification and maturing

Co fermentation of Grenache with Carignan.
Vatting of Carignan at the bottom of the vat for optimal extraction of anthocyanins (colour) and aromatic varietal compounds,  thanks to the Grenache juice, rich in polyphenols and alcohol.
Immersion of the marc caps at the end of fermentation for optimal maceration of the grapes at 25°C max.
Long vinification (2 to 3 weeks) allows to develop the aromatic bouquet and roundness of the wine thanks to daily pumping over.
8 months of aging in stainless steel and concrete tanks.

Tasting notes

Deep red.
Ripe red fruits with hints of liquorice.Roundness and sweetness of Grenache with notes of garrigue. A beautiful balance of flavours with hints of spices in the finish. The cuvée has a roundness and a delicacy very characteristic of Grenache and a certain minerality due to the terroir.

Food and wine pairing

Great potential for aging while developing its spicy flavours.
Serve between 13-15°C / 56-59°F with grilled meat, eggplant and tomato gratin or duck breast.

Appellation

The Côtes-du-Rhône vineyards flourish along the Rhône River, rooted in richly diverse, terroirs first cultivated by the Romans in 125 BC.

Thanks to our long-standing partner, we can offer this 50 year-old Côtes-du-Rhône from exceptional parcels on complex,  stony clay-limestone soils. These characteristics provide a natural balance of alcohol and tannins, with ideal mineral content and water retention, without excess.
The vines of GRENACHE NOIR have thrived through decades, despite the changing climate conditions.
