GRIGNAN-LES-ADHEMAR

GARDE DE BONPAS

Origins of the cuvée

GARDE DE BONPAS
Each cuvée reveals a chapter in the history of this prestigious site or its region.
Just as the Chartreuse de Bonpas has watched over the passage between Rome and Avignon since 1318, the village of La Garde-Adhémar, from its rocky outcrop, has kept watch over the Rhône since the 10th century.

Grape varietals

Grenache Noir, Syrah and Carignan

Vinification and maturing

Co-fermentation of the different grape varieties. Physical extractions using ‘rack and return’ techniques at the beginning of fermentation, give way to the traditional Rhône Valley method, which consists of submerging the pomace cap at the end of fermentation. The fermentation temperature is regulated at 24°C, ensuring a well-balanced wine. The entire cuvée is aged in stainless steel vats to preserve the freshness of the aromas and a soft tannic structure.

Appellation

Nestled in the Drôme Provençale, the vineyard flourishes in a landscape shaped by lavender fields, truffle oaks, olive trees, and aromatic herbs.
The first vines in Grignan-les-Adhemar were planted in the 5th century BC. The region was developed by the Romans and became one of the richest wine-producing centres in medieval Gaul, thanks in particular to the Rhône, an efficient means of communication and transport.
The vineyards are located on limestone slopes and stony soils that are ideal for the expression of Grenache Noir.
